I am so excited to be embarking on my second year as the Assistant Principal at Swansfield Elementary School. I feel fortunate to be able to call myself a “Swan” and work with such a warm and caring community. I view the elementary years as exciting, crucial years in child development. I believe that nurturing environments and early interventions during childhood can have a powerful impact in promoting life-long achievement and adjustment. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to work with Swanfield students and their families at this pivotal time in their lives.
I come to Swansfield from experiences in other schools in Howard County, as well as other states in the country. I have worked as a special educator, a school counselor, and a school psychologist during my 34 years in education.
I hope that this school year holds a great deal of positive experiences for your child educationally. I welcome opportunities to meet parents and partner with them to provide the very best experiences for their children. It is hard to believe that three wonderful years have gone by! Every day is a joy to work in this school community where collaboration is truly evident! We celebrate Swansfield 40th birthday this year and are planning for a January/February event that will bring back staff and students from across the decades!
This begins my 30th year as an educator with 25 of those spent in Howard County working as a classroom teacher and team leader in primary and intermediate grades, as a G/T Resource Teacher, and as an administrator. I also spent time serving the county as the Elementary Science/Mathematics Resource Teacher in between these experiences. My current experience in this school community continues to be extremely fulfilling!
Swansfield continues to serve a diverse population with an impressive partnership of staff, students, and families! The needs of each and every student are uppermost in our minds and hearts as our highly qualified staff works to engage students in quality instruction! Our relationship with your children is key in our support of their academic success; they teach us as much as we teach them!
