Swansfield Message To Our Community

Our School Traditions Regarding Halloween

Dear Swansfield Community,

While we recognize that Halloween activities held during the school day have been a long-standing tradition in many Howard County schools and communities, in order to provide a safe, enjoyable experience for all of our students and families, Swansfield has not hosted Halloween activities during the school day for the past two years . Instead, we have partnered with our PTA to offer fun, Halloween-related activities outside of the school day for students who would like to join (Halloween Dance, Fall Festival, Trunk or Treat).

Unfortunately, those activities cannot happen this year due to social distancing. However, the school and PTA will partner to plan a fall activity and details will follow soon.

While families who are returning to Swansfield are already aware of our traditions, we wanted to be sure to inform families who may be new to Swansfield this school year. We appreciate your understanding of the decision to refrain from holding Halloween activities during the school day.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions.

Sincerely,
Laurel Porter, Principal
