For more information please visit https://ses.hcpss.org/sites/default/files/ses-talk-with-me.pdf Seasonal Allergies Affect StudentsSeasonal allergies can affect anyone at any time. Health Room staff hears frequently, "I have not been diagnosed with allergies" or "I have never had allergies before". Seasonal allergies are something to consider if cold-like symptoms are not resolving. Students may not stay inside for PE or recess unless the health room has a doctor's note with information about pollen count restrictions and duration of the restriction. If you have questions or concerns, please call the school health room. Visit Our School's Native Plant GardenLast fall, Rebecca Seering, 5th grade teacher, was awarded a $750 grant from the Howard County Conservancy to use for a biodiversity project at Swansfield. She asked the Green Beanz to help her organize this project. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students in Green Beanz decided to make a native plant garden to replace the one that was lost during construction. They researched plants, chose hearty, drought resistant varieties, and contacted HCPSS ground crews to prepare the planting area on the side of the school building between 4th and 5th grades. After measuring, mapping out plant placement, and building garden beds, the Green Beanz planted the flowers last week. The grant, in conjunction with proceeds from the yard sales, funded the purchase of flowers and vegetables that will fill the native garden in the future. Please stop by and visit the garden. Thanks for your support! Congratulations Spotlight Winners We congratulate our Spotlight Winners for the past few weeks. These students have demonstrated they follow our school rules and are Safe, Respectful and Responsible.
