Kindergarten Registration for School Year 2020-21 Begins Monday, March 9

If you have a child who will be five years old by September 1, 2020, it's time to register for Kindergarten.  Families can visit Swansfield beginning March 9 between 9:00 am and 2:30 pm to enroll their students for next school year. More information can be found at http://www.hcpss.org/enroll/

We also will be accepting Pre-Kindergarten registrations beginning Monday, March 16.  Children must be four years old by September 1, 2020 to attend. 

Celebrate our Diversity at International Night

Our PTA has been hard at work planning Swansfield's International Night, which will be held Thursday evening, March 19, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Please plan to join us and see the display boards showcasing different countries, sample delicious food, and see a variety of performances showcasing different cultures.We hope you can join us for this fun night while we celebrate the Swansfield Community!

Students' Outstanding Work Recognized at Science Fair

Swansfield hosted its Annual Science Fair last week and we congratulate the following students for their outstanding work:

  • Zander Mitchell and Damone Williams received the Mae Jamison Star Catcher Awards for students in K and 1st grade.
  • Arjun Pinnepalli and Marcus Belsches received the Charles Drew Pioneer Awards for 2nd and 3rd grade students. Vanessa Uruburo and Hailey Holloway received honorable mention.
  • Erik Allen Lee and Sybil-Sarah Arrey-Mbi received the Katherine Johnson Trailblazer Awards for 4th and 5th grade students.  Jamison England received honorable mention.

Students Earn Gold at Unheard Perspectives Showcase

Congratulations to the following Swansfield student teams who participated in the Unheard Perspectives Countywide Showcase February 29.  All earned a gold medal! There were 24 schools and more than 70 presentations.

  • Erik Allen Lee and Josiah Wheeler's presentation focused on Elijah Cummings
  • Sybil-Sarah Arrey-Mbi and Arianna Aseidu's presentation focused on Josephine Baker
  • And the team of Janell Agyare-Tanor, Gabby Djontu, Yeonee Pak, and Scarlett Stewart received the most points in the showcase for their presentation on Claudette Colvin.

We would also like to congratulate the following students who presented at the school level: Nathaly Granodos, Max Adeleye, Folu Ojifinni, Trae Parker, My'kiel Robertson, Maya Rhyne and Nyla Crawford.

Kids Heart Challenge

A big thank you to everyone who supported our annual Kids Heart Challenge fundraiser for the American Heart Association! Our students raised more than $1900 for this great cause.  We also recognize Ethan Pisner from second grade who was our top fundraiser.  Way to go!

Redistricted Students To Visit New Schools April 2 

On April 2, current elementary students in grades K-4 who will be changing schools next year from Swansfield Elementary to Longfellow, Clarksville or Clemens Crossing Elementary will be visiting their new school from 10:00am - 11:30am. More information will be coming soon.

Swansfield Career Day

Swansfield will be hosting Career Day on Friday, May 8. We are looking for presenters to share information about their work! Presentations will be about 20 minutes. NEX TREX Recycling  

Thank you for donating numerous plastic bags to the Green Beanz’ NEX TREX Recycling Challenge.  So far we have collected a total of 80.4 lbs of plastic bags! Please continue to donate. The NEX TREX Recycling Challenge ends  April 22, which is Earth Day!

Green Beanz Planning Yard Sale

Save the date! On Saturday, May 2, the SES Green Beanz are hosting a yard sale in the SES parking lot from 9 am to 1 pm.  The free yard sale spots are reserved on a first come first serve basis. If you would like to reserve a spot, please complete the form that will be coming home in your student's Monday folder in the next few weeks. All donations to the Green Beanz will be used to replace recycling bins and buy plants for our garden. Please contact Mrs. Diventi or Ms. Malcotti with any questions.

Register for the Spring Season of Girls on the Run

Registration is still open for the spring season of Girls on the Run at Swansfield, which starts the week of March 15, with the season-ending 5K scheduled for Saturday, May 30. Emergency Card Procedures with Family File

Parents/guardians must verify and/or update emergency information for each child at HCPSS Connect Instructions are available online.

Volunteers/Chaperones Must Complete Training

All volunteers and field trip chaperones in HCPSS schools must complete the online training course prior to volunteering found HERE, print a completion certificate and return it to the front office. If you are unable to access online a printed version is available at school.
