Dear Swansfield Families,

It is hard to believe we will be welcoming you into our building for an Open House in just 2 weeks.  Our custodial staff has been working extremely hard to clean and prepare our building for the students’ return and we are beyond excited to welcome everyone back!

On August 6th, you should have received our Welcome Back Email with important upcoming dates.  A copy of the email can be found on our school website under SES Back to School Dates, and a reminder of the upcoming dates is included below.  



If you have not already, please log in to www.hcpss.org/connect to complete or update your Family File.  This will ensure we have accurate emergency and contact information on file and will allow you (on August 25th) to view your child’s teacher for the 21-22 school year. Participation in Free and Reduced-Meal program qualifies students for many opportunities.  Detailed information can be found at https://www.hcpss.org/food-services/farms/.  We are asking all families to complete their application online at https://www.myschoolapps.com/Application.

To allow for social distancing to the greatest extent possible, we have decided to split our families into two designated groups for open house.  We are asking all families to please attend at their assigned time to limit the number of people we have in the building/classrooms at one time.  We appreciate your cooperation and our teachers look forward to seeing/meeting you!

  • Families with last names A - K
    • 2:00-2:30:  Join the PTA and teachers outside on the blacktop for a cool treat and free book
    • 2:30-3:00:  Go to your child(ren)’s classroom(s) for open house
  • Families with last names M - Z
    • 2:00-2:30:  Go to your child(ren)’s classroom(s) for open house
    • 2:30-3:00:  Join the PTA and teachers outside on the blacktop for a cool treat and free book

Families who will be arriving early for Kindergarten Orientation or New Student Orientation will follow this schedule after their orientation is complete.  



We are incredibly grateful for all of the donations we received from our Amazon Wish List sent out earlier this summer!  We have a full supply of items to start our school year and our students will truly benefit from them.  As we enter the school year, we would like to share two additional wish lists with you.  Thank you in advance for your support.

Are you wondering what arrival and dismissal procedures will look like this year?  We will be sending out detailed information prior to the first day of school.  This will provide all families with where each grade level will line up/enter the building, as well as the dismissal process for car riders and walkers.  



Families with students new to HCPSS and whose registration has been finalized will receive an email from noreply@hcpss.org with the subject “Technology account information for new HCPSS student.” The email will be sent to the email address used during the student registration process. The email contains personalized and important information regarding new students’ technology accounts. If you have a child new to HCPSS and do not receive the email and/or cannot locate the email in the junk/spam folder of the email account you used during registration, you can use the Forgot Password or Username button on the hcpss.me student landing page to retrieve both your child’s username and password. Directions for Account Self Service directions are posted online.



Monday, August 23rd from 6:30pm-7:30pm:  The SES PTA will host a Kindergarten play date on the playground behind the school.  (Rain Date, August 24th)

Wednesday, August 25th:  Families who have completed/updated their family file will be able to view their child’s teacher.  Once you know your child’s teacher we ask that you complete this transportation form prior to the first day of school.

Thursday, August 26th:  Parents will receive an email from their child’s teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. 

Friday, August 27th

  • 1:00pm-2:00pm:  Grade K New Student Orientation (A virtual option will be offered on 9/1 for families who are unable to attend on 8.27.21.)
  • 1:30pm-2:30pm:  Grades 1-5 New Student Orientation (for students new to SES for the 21-22 school year).
  • 2:00pm-3:00pm:  Open House for all students.  At this time, students can drop off their supplies and meet their teacher.

Monday, August 30th:  First day of school for students in grades K-5. 

Thursday, September 2nd:  First day of school for Pre-Kindergarten and Pre-School students.

Wednesday, September 1st :  Back to School Night

  • In-Person Option (Parents Only - to maintain as much social distancing as possible)
    • 5:00-5:30pm:  GT, Curriculum Extension Units & Seminars 
    • 5:30-6:15pm:  Grades 1 & 2 In-Person Back to School presentation
    • 6:30-7:15pm:  Grade 3 - 5 In-Person Back to School presentation
  • Virtual Option (Codes will be shared at a later date)
    • 5:00-5:30pm:  GT Curriculum Extension Units & Seminars
    • 5:30-6:15pm:  Kindergarten Virtual Orientation (for families not able to attend on 8/27/21)
    • 5:30-6:15pm:  Grades 3-5 Virtual Back to School presentation
    • 6:30-7:15pm:  Grades 1 & 2 Virtual Back to School presentation
