Swansfield Newsletter 8.20.21

Dear Swansfield Families,

On Thursday, August 19th, we welcomed back our entire staff, in-person, for the first time in over 500 days!  Words cannot describe the energy in our building right now.  Our staff is extremely excited to welcome back our students in person!  We also want to thank the Swansfield PTA for providing our staff with a delicious Welcome Back Breakfast on Thursday morning.  It was a wonderful treat!

Below you will find some new updates as well as reminders regarding upcoming events and students returning to school.

LUNCH UPDATES

Please see the information below regarding outdoor and indoor seating options for lunch.  After reviewing this information, we ask that you please complete a survey to indicate your child’s lunch seating preference.

  • OUTDOOR SEATING
    • Swansfield will have an outdoor eating space available for student use as weather and staffing permits to lessen the number of students in the cafeteria.
    • All students will have an assigned seat for contact tracing purposes.
  • INDOOR SEATING
    • Plexiglass shields for indoor cafeteria tables will be used to provide additional protection between students while eating when masks cannot work.
    • All students will have an assigned seat for contact tracing purposes.
    • During indoor eating, students must wear masks when not eating.  This includes:
      • Entering and exiting the cafeteria.
      • Standing in the lunch line
      • Leaving their seats to throw away trash, go to the bathroom, get a drink of water, etc.
      • Sitting at their table after finishing meal

UPDATE YOUR FAMILY FILE TODAY

If you have not already, please log in to www.hcpss.org/connect to complete or update your Family File.  This will ensure we have accurate emergency and contact information on file and will allow you (on August 25th) to view your child’s teacher for the 21-22 school year. Please use this HCPP resource to help you complete your Family File: https://youtu.be/CQGq7M-uGTY

OPEN HOUSE,  BOOKS AND A COOL TREAT!

To allow for social distancing to the greatest extent possible, we have decided to split our families into two designated groups for open house.  We are asking all families to please attend at their assigned time to limit the number of people we have in the building/classrooms at one time.  We appreciate your cooperation and our teachers look forward to seeing/meeting you!

  • Families with last names A - K
    • 2:00-2:30:  Join the PTA and teachers outside on the blacktop for a cool treat and free book
    • 2:30-3:00:  Go to your child(ren)’s classroom(s) for open house
  • Families with last names M - Z
    • 2:00-2:30:  Go to your child(ren)’s classroom(s) for open house
    • 2:30-3:00:  Join the PTA and teachers outside on the blacktop for a cool treat and free book

Families who will be arriving early for Kindergarten Orientation or New Student Orientation will follow this schedule after their orientation is complete.

SCHOOL & CLASSROOM WISH LISTS

We are incredibly grateful for all of the donations we received from our Amazon Wish List sent out earlier this summer!  We have a full supply of items to start our school year and our students will truly benefit from them.  As we enter the school year, we would like to share two additional wish lists with you.  Thank you in advance for your support.
