Testing in Grades 3, 4, and 5

Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program (MCAP) - Spring Assessment for 3rd, 4th & 5th Graders

The Maryland State Department of Education is conducting a spring student assessment as one of several strategies to identify how students are performing academically. The results will help educators better understand student needs.  These results never stand alone in assessing student growth, and will be used in combination with other assessments and class work to gauge overall student performance.

MCAP is the overarching term used for all state assessments. MSDE will administer assessments in the Spring for English Language Arts/Literacy & Mathematics. Here are the dates for SES Students:

5th Grade MCAP Dates:

  • ELA - 5/3, 5/4, 5/5, 5/6 (10:00am)
  • Math - 5/9, 5/10, 5/11, 5/13 (9:00am)

4th Grade MCAP Dates:

  • ELA - 5/9, 5/10, 5/12, 5/13 (10:00am)
  • Math - 5/3, 5/4, 5/5, 5/6 (9:00am)

3rd Grade Spring MCAP Dates:

  • ELA- 5/23, 5/26, 5/27, 5/31 (9:00am)
  • Math- 5/16, 5/17, 5/18, 5/19 (9:00am)

Students will need to bring their HCPSS issued laptop (fully charged) and corded headphones (if possible). Any student without headphones will be issued a pair to use for the assessments.  Please contact Mrs. Madden (Courtney_Madden@hcpss.org) and Mr. Carter (Howard_Carter@hcpss.org) with any questions about the MCAP assessment.

BSAP Corner

Kindness goes a long way. We must remember that we may never know what is going on in someone else’s life. A simple act of kindness can change someone’s day and can even change their life, so why not be kind? We may never know that holding a door for someone or saying thank you or offering a helping hand can make a huge difference in the life of another.
