Good Afternoon SES Families,
It is with a heavy heart that I share the news that Trish Boe, our amazing day chief custodian, has accepted a transfer to serve in the same role at Patapsco Middle School. Prior to arriving at SES, 15 years ago, Trish’s experience was at the secondary level serving the communities of Atholton HS & Long Reach HS. Trish is a true gem and has put her heart & soul into serving our community. She has become a trusted colleague and friend to many and a trusted adult to our students. Please join me in wishing Trish Boe the best of luck in her next journey.
Her last day will be November 1st. Next week, we will send out communication on how we plan to honor Trish prior to her last day.

The 2024 Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching Nominations and Applications
The National Science Foundation (NSF) accepts nominations and applications for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). PAEMST is the highest recognition a Kindergarten through 12th-grade science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or computer science educator may receive for outstanding teaching in the United States. The 2024 nomination cycle is for elementary teachers (K–6). Principals, teachers, parents, students, or members of the general public may nominate a teacher by completing the nomination form. You will need the teacher’s name, email address, and school contact information to submit a nomination. Teachers may also initiate the application process themselves at www.paemst.nsf.gov. The nomination deadline is January 8, 2024, and the application deadline is February 6, 2024.

Oct. 28 FALL FESTIVAL & TRUNK OR TREAT: SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER
Join the PTA on Saturday, October 28 for a Swan family favorite, our annual Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat event! The Fall Festival will be held from 1-3 p.m. on the SES blacktop, followed by Trunk or Treat at 3 p.m. in the front parking lot. Bring your whole family for music, fall themed games, and crafts!

STUDENT ARTISTS: SUBMIT YOUR ART TO REFLECTIONS ART CONTEST
Does your student enjoy art, music and dance or have an interest in writing, producing films and taking photos? Then encourage them to have fun unleashing their inner artist by submitting an entry to the PTA Reflections art contest! Art can be submitted in the following categories: Visual Arts, Dance Choreography, Film Production, Photography, Literature, and Photography! The theme this year is “I am hopeful because . . .” Winning entries will be forwarded for competition at the county level. For details, visit our website.
