Dear Swansfield Community,
It is hard to believe it is already March and we only have 3 more months left of the school year. I feel as though it was only yesterday, we were taking pictures of our kids getting on the bus for the first day of school. This school year has been an incredible one and we still have many more activities planned before it is over. Not to mention, many more moments to capture that can become priceless memories in the school yearbook. If you happen to have any pictures throughout the school year where you were able to capture those perfect moments, please be sure to email them to the yearbook (please see below). There is also still time to purchase a yearbook to reminisce on all of the special moments that took place throughout this year.
Purchase your 2025-2026 yearbook today! Please go to ybpay.lifetouch.com and use code 15120326. The last day to purchase a yearbook is April 20, 2026.
I hope everyone has an amazing weekend and I hope everyone was able to step outside and enjoy the sunshine that mother nature had to offer this week. It was a nice reminder that spring is just around the corner!
Enjoy the weekend!

NEW INFORMATION
Rock the Roof
Does your child love to sing, dance, play an instrument, want to share a poem or say about why they love Swansfield? Then we want to hear from them! Rock the Roof: Rally for Howard County Schools is a brand-new countywide community celebration happening on Saturday, March 28 at 9:30 AM at Harriet Tubman (8045 Harriet Tubman Lane, Columbia, MD 21044). This inaugural event brings together students, parents, educators, and community members to celebrate everything that makes Howard County public schools extraordinary. Elected officials and media will be in attendance, making this a powerful moment to show our leaders and our community just how much our schools mean to us. Organizers hope to have every school represented and we'd love for a Swansfield student to shine on that stage! If your child is interested in speaking or performing, please contact Shamieka Preston at 415-938-6367.
SAVE THE DATE: CULTURE NIGHT: APRIL 17TH FROM 6:30-8pm
This special event honors the diverse cultural backgrounds within our community, providing a platform for students, teachers, and families to learn from one another, share their cultural traditions, and strengthen community bonds. We hope that you will join us!
We encourage Swansfield community members to showcase their cultural heritage through display boards, food, fashion and performances.
If you are interested in being part of this joyful and community-building event, we would love to have you! Please use this link to sign up or contact us with any questions! membership@swansfieldpta.org and trisha.f.doyle@gmail.com
Save the Date for the 2026 Science Fair
The Swansfield Science Fair will take place in-person on Thursday, May 28th during our Evening with the Stars.
The science fair will include the opportunity for students to present their science fair project on a trifold board (provided by the PTA for students that sign up). Projects will be judged during the fair with awards issued and prizes for all participating students awarded after the fair.
If your child is interested in participating, you must fill out the Science Fair Interest Form. If you have more than one student, please fill out a separate entry for each student participating.
For more information on participating check out:
- Science Fair Student Packet - includes written step-by-step directions on how to formulate a science fair project and lay out your trifold board
- Science Fair workshop video - includes recorded information on how to come up with a good question, hypothesis and way to test your hypothesis (only 14 minutes long!)
- Science Fair consult (optional) - if your student is feeling unsure about their project, they can opt to participate in a 15-minute consult with a science-loving adult (virtual and in-person options available) to discuss their project and get feedback. Please indicate your student’s interest in this option when signing them up for the science fair on the science fair interest form.
If you want to volunteer, we will need parent judges for the night of the fair and science-loving adults for the student project consults! We also welcome any members to join the science fair committee. Please let us know if you can help as a volunteer on the volunteer sign up form.
