Good Afternoon Swansfield,
I hope this communication finds you well. We have a lot to celebrate this week. Thank you to all the volunteers that attended our “World of Work” Day. The students loved hearing about the different professions of our community members.
We would also like to thank all the families that attended our grade 3 & 4 family night. We had over 250 people in attendance. It was an awesome evening of connection and learning.
This will be the last newsletter from the admin team before we go on spring break. For those families traveling, we wish you a safe trip. For those staying home and may take part in some spring cleaning we encourage you to use our Clothing for Cash bin. The school earns money each month that we put towards family nights, staff and student incentives, and much much more.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend! ~ Anthony J Esposito, Principal

HCPSS Elementary School GT Band
Congratulations to fifth grader, Sophia Mathew, on her successful clarinet audition and selection to the 2026 HCPSS Elementary School GT Band. Way to go!
Each year, Howard County auditions over one hundred students between grades four and five for the distinct honor of participation in the Gifted and Talented Band. We are very proud of Sophia for her dedication and commitment to her music studies on the clarinet. Sophia will perform with the HCPSS GT Band later this spring.
MD Spirit Day Announcement
On Wednesday, March 25, we are celebrating Maryland Day. Maryland Day commemorates the anniversary of the arrival of the first European settlers in 1634. To celebrate our state’s unique history and culture, we are encouraging all students and staff to dress up! Wear your favorite Maryland Flag gear or the colors of the state flag (yellow, red, black, or white).

Donations for Health Room
Accidents happen! We are looking for donations of new or gently used clothing for students in the event of “clothing emergencies” (lunch spills, nosebleeds, torn clothes, accidents, etc.). We need 1) elastic waist (athletic style) pants, especially boy’s sizes 6-8 and 2) underwear, especially boys (all sizes up to 10/12). Donations can be dropped in the front office marked “clothing donations”.
